Need to replace old roofing, rolled and small stone to shingles on patio. Tile on house roof. How do you tie it in? Thanks for any help. Judy C.
I have a roof that I want to get some work done on but I’m confused as to how many types of standard roofing projects exist. My roof doesn’t have any structural issues, leaks or problems that I know of at this time. Howver I think it was patched at some point because there are some shingles that are of a different color. I have heard so many different types of roofing work that I am confused? What are the different ways that a roof is worked on and how do different roofing projects differ from each other (longevity, cost, time frame for work)?
I have a metal roof on my porch and live in Florida. It gets so hot that I can’t even use the porch. I’m planning to paint it white. I went to Home Depot and there are several brands and types of roofing paint available. Do any of you have recommendations (or warnings) about what kind of paint to buy? I hope to lower the temperature at least 5 degrees.
Thanks Bandit, but I’m hoping to hear from someone with personal or professional experience with this kind of product, not a link.
the materials were delivered by mistake and i cannot find who it came from.
Our garage roof had a lot of water damage so we have to replace the old boards. Does it matter which side of the plywood goes up – smooth or rough side? Any re-roofing tips would be appreciated, it’s the first time doing it ourself.
We are putting a new roof on our garage and doing the work ourselves. We want to put on a metal roof as we did on our house a few years ago. However, I would like to find something more decorative than just the plain metal roof, since the garage & roof are in close proximity to our deck and is very visible from the house. We looked into the new metal shakes, etc., but they are very costly. So before we just give up and go with the plain metal roofing sheets, I was wondering if we could find some decorative siding (vinyl, etc) and put it on the roof instead of the sheets of plain metal roofing. The roof will be going over an existing shingle roof that is starting to lose a lot of it’s shingles. Would the siding be able to shed water, snow, etc. like a metal roof would? We live in Indiana. What do you think?
a link to a page or explanation of the basics/differences of all methods of commercial roofing would be great. Built up roofing, modified bitumen, single ply, etc. Thanks!
I am looking at purchasing a home that is in need of a new roof among other things, and was wondering if someone could tell me what the difference was between the different materials available for use. The house is in Pittsburgh, PA. The homes around the area seem to have either slate or asphalt. What is the life expectancy of each type? Are there certain benefits accompanied with each one? Any advice would be great.
I need a satellite mount for a flat roof top that is held down with bricks.
can anyone help me find out what companies are the main manufacturers of commercial roofing material (BUR, singly ply, etc)
